First Step

First off I want to say that this is something new for me, so be advised you may need a helmet....or a rope....or a life raft.... What this is meaning is that I hope that I can create something awesome to share with you and Honestly have no idea how it is going to turn out. So prepare for a possibly bumpy ride, and all of the best things are aren't they; country roads, airplane rides, rollercoasters, climbing, skiing, and of course LIFE. So here we go.....

Day 1

Psalms 25:4-7 "Show me your ways, o Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Remember, O Lord, your great mercy and love for they are from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you are good, O Lord."

I ran across this verse the other day and I was just blown away. I've heard parts of it in songs and in services but I've never actually GOT it. But when I read it over again, and then again for the 17th time I started to see truth in it.

It starts out talking about showing us the ways of the Lord, having him teach us the paths, and then guiding us. Well to me this is similar to hiking on a trail, you have to know how to hike before you can go. Granted most people know how, but you need to know what you need, if you are dressed appropriately, what poison Ivy looks like (this is SUPER important), and if you aren't prepared you set yourself up for disaster. But God gives us his word to use as our map, mosquito repellant, our fire starter, rope for the tough climbs, knowledge of survival, and so much more. In the bible we can read so many stories, and verses of how God protected his children, how he supplied for the needs of many. But simply reading and knowing won't do you squat if you don't go out into the woods and take what you know and use it. This is where God teaches us the paths and guides us down these roads. Sometimes you don't know where it is that you are going but all you know is that God is in control. Sometimes that's all you need. I know that in my life the journey that I have taken has been so full of twists and turns, sometimes I don't even realize that I'm moving forward, but I am. That's how I got the Idea to start something like this blog, to write my story, paint my master piece, draw my novel, play my guitar. I've learned that adventure can be found every single day, sometimes its huge like climbing to the top of a rock wall, other times its small like just remembering to be kind to others around you. No matter where you go though, there's always something to do. Now I'm slightly off topic, but I think this is it for this post. Remember that each journey begins with a first step. Go ahead take the first step today and find the adventure in your life!

Beginnings

There are always new beginnings for every climb, and we need to be prepared. That's what this blog is created for, to help prepare you and me for the climb of this life. Hopefully, there will be either daily or at least weekly updates, each being a short devo for the day. Each keeping in mind that as we walk the walk and climb the mountain that we need to prepare ourselves and become equipped to handle the challenges that we are facing. This is what Climbing the Mountain is for. I hope you enjoy :)
